I have always loved observing faces, as if they are a palette streaked with vibrant colours. Crimson anger can switch to blues of upset and sadness then back to the technicolour whirl of joy.
On the opening night of the Bookery Gallery’s art exhibition last year, I was invited to attend. A number of artists attended, each with a different look and outfit than the last. I asked their permission to take their pictures and considered it a project in and of itself.
I began to do this with almost everyone I met. In order to capture even a glimpse of their essence and story, I would ask and photograph people who were full of character and carried their lives on their faces.
