Many of my friends have told me that the apple on my head is an eyesore but I don’t think I’ll ever remove it. Who knows what I was really thinking when I painted this; was it just a bit of fun? A bit of humour?
During the first lockdown, I went through a long phase of self-reflection. I learnt a lot about myself in those months and to me, the apples carry the symbolism of that newfound knowledge; one in my mind and the other in my hands – under my control and protection.
I’ve let others warp my way of thinking in the past and I doubt I’ll ever let it happen again.
